Dubai Business News — Organizers of the Dubai Marathon say a new route will take runners past Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, as well as the Middle East's largest shopping mall.
The Jan. 27 race will see runners start in the shadow of Birj Khalifa before heading past the Dubai Mall. The route then takes runners past the Dubai World Trade Center and then along the coast.
As in previous years, the route then tackles a flat stretch, past the Burj Al Arab, with the race ending about 1 kilometer (0.62 miles) from the Burj Khalifa.
This year's race was won by David Barmasai of Kenya and the women's title went to Aselefech Medessa of Ethiopia.
